NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The color, class & colonialism: 50 years & counting conference has been underway in Grand Bahama this week, tackling hard hitting issues as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.

During a question and answer segment, one of the speakers, Natino Saunders says when it comes to discussions around and perceptions of race in The Bahamas it’s multifaceted.

The scholar arguing that it’s not just the physical representation of a person that helps dictate the race they’re perceived as, but social choices and affiliations they make as well.

Thompson says this is especially true in the British Caribbean.
