Second Trial Ends In Conviction for 2021 Liquor Store Shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has been found guilty of attempted murder for a second time.

Tavare Mejias, also known as Lil Spoon, was convicted of the April 10, 2021 shooting of Desmond “Strap” Smith.

The charge stems from a shooting at the B Watts Liquor Store on Bethel Avenue.

Mejias, 47, was remanded to prison after the jury’s decision. He returns to court in June for sentencing.

In 2013, Mejias was sentenced to 10 years in prison for an attempted murder that happened at the same bar.

Darvin Forbes and Apricio Fox were watching a basketball game at the bar on December 25, 2010 when Mejias suddenly pulled a gun after eating three “herb cookies”.
