NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The sister of Heavenly Terveus says she feels the system failed the young mother, as her murder could have been avoided.

This as Terveus’ one-month old son recovers in hospital after being injured during the ordeal that unfolded over the weekend.

Terveus’ neighbors also joining the call for complaints of abuse to be taken seriously.

Just tears outside the Miami Street home where 21-year-old Heavenly Terveus was shot and killed Saturday night. 

Her one-month-old son, who was in the room when tragedy struck, remains in hospital. The alleged perpetrator, Terveus’ fiance too in hospital after he was found on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound.

Heavenly’s sister and neighbors outside the home today calling for law enforcement to take complaints more seriously as two incidents just days before her murder, reports were made.

Heavenly – a young photographer –  was described as a quiet, budding young entrepreneur.

But her neighbors say over the past two weeks, something was off.

Her sister, Denise, says when she tried to intervene in what appeared to be a domestic issue a year ago she was shot at. The next day, the suspect proposed to Heavenly.

The evening she was murdered, neighbors say it appeared to be a normal day with children playing on the outside. And then, tragedy struck.

Now, this family and neighborhood is left to mourn the loss of this young mother who had dreams of developing into a one of a kind photographer.

Outside her window hang three teddy bears. Heavenly’s mother spent the day at PMH tending to the one month old recovering from injuries sustained during the incident. But her sister and her neighbors say despite the tragic way in which her life was taken and the many stories going around on social media, they want her to be remembered as a humble and driven young woman who had a bright future ahead of her.
