Thousands in Goods Returned from NGO

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – New revelations about the National Food Distribution Task Force spilling out on the floor of Parliament today as the prime minister detailed how hundreds of thousands of dollars in goods were recently returned to government.

And that’s not all he revealed. PM Davis also revealed a company contracted to collect immigration fees, kept government money.

PM Davis says after the program ended, one non-governmental organization chose to go on what the prime minister terms a ‘spending spree’ with the money meant for the food program. He says just last month, the principal of that program returned a substantial amount of money to the government. 

But there’s more.

Davis says the NGO bought thousands of dollars in vehicles that were also recently returned.

The PM says the returns add up to $400,000.

Initially planned for 12 weeks, the food program was operational for 70 weeks with $53 million in funding.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis says he is unaware of what PM Davis was talking about, but assured the proper procedure was followed.

Since taking office, the Davis administration took issue with the program with Davis later saying it’s unclear how the money was spent because there were no records.

However former chairperson Susan Larson defended the program saying there were comprehensive records.

But PM Davis wasn’t done. He also accused the former administration of appointing a company as the sole collector of immigration fees. However, the prime minister says the company was not licensed to operate as such.
