NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, in 1964 – Ray Minus Jr. was born in Nassau, New Providence, Bahama Islands.

Minus was a professional boxer who captured multiple titles over his career. His championships included the Bahamas Lightweight, Light Welterweight, the British Commonwealth Title as well as numerous intercontinental titles. Over his career his record was 37 wins with 27 knock outs, 9 losses and 1 draw. He fought across different weight classes which included batnamweight, lightweight, featherweight and welterweight.
In 2001 Minus retired and became a full time boxing trainer and coach at Champion Amateur Boxing Club which he founded with his then wife Michelle Mu. In November’s 2022 he was inducted into the Bahamas National Sports Hall of Fame and passed away this year April 28, 2023.

Finally in 2019, a bus strike negatively impacted hundreds of Bahamians. Ninety percent of bus drivers canceled their routes to show their frustrations with the transport minister. They say the minister had failed to meet with them to discuss long-standing concerns. As a result hundreds of passengers on 19 routes throughout New Providence were negatively impacted.
