HAITI – Gangs in Haiti are recruiting kids at shocking rates, with the number of minors joining up 70% in just a year, according to a UNICEF report.

UNICEF says right now, as many as half of all gang members are children, with poverty and violence making it easy for gangs to target vulnerable kids.

The report notes how boys are often forced to spy or fight, and girls made to cook, clean, or serve as “wives.”

Many of these kids are as young as eight, according to UNICEF which says its becoming harder to get them out of gangs.
