UNITED STATES – Thousands of staff at the U.S. Agency for International Development will go on leave starting Friday as President Trump slashes government-funded programs.

USAID which manages 40 billion dollars in global aid, says it’ll fly many overseas employees home within a month, although it’s unclear how workers in conflict zones will be withdrawn.

Meanwhile billionaire Elon Musk, who has been tapped to find government spending cuts, suggests shutting the agency down entirely.

Critics warn gutting USAID would leave vulnerable nations without crucial U.S. support.
