Opposition Leader: “This is Bigger Than Christie, Urban Renewal Needs Restructuring”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The decision to let former Prime Minister Perry Christie “lead and guide” the Urban Renewal Authority, in the words of Prime Minister Philip Davis, sparks backlash from the public, as many disagree with the appointment.

Christie, who’s been out of public service since losing the 2017 general election, has been supporting the Progressive Liberal Party from behind the scenes.

On Tuesday, Director of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, Latrae Rahming, clarified that christie’s appointment is unpaid.

Opposition leader Michael Pintard says it may be a political move as election season draws closer.

Urban Renewal, considered to be Christie’s brain child, was started back in 2002, known then as the Farm Road Project which then grew to be Urban Renewal 2.0 in 2012.

The Prime Minister says because of the history and Christie’s knowledge of the program, he was chosen to lead, however opposition leader Michael Pintard says it goes beyond that.
