NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Increased patrols by land and sea on Grand Bahama yielding results to protect and preserve marine life. Our Megan Shepherd speaks with the Department of Marine Resources in the Northern Bahamas.

A joint effort between the Department of Marine Resources and another government agency led to a recent apprehension on Grand Bahama. Assistant Fisheries Officer, L’Dina Pelecanos says patrol efforts are paying off.

In addition, she says compressors should only be used in waters 30-60 feet. She outlines the penalties for violations

Pelecanos adds, while there is currently no limit on the landing of conch, there are other conservation measures in place.
