Labour Minister: Industrial Relations Moving In the Right Direction

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Labour Minister Pia Glover-Rolle is of the view that not just because someone continues to say something, “does it bring the accuracy,” following a union leader’s repeated claims government has not followed through on the Memorandum of Understanding signed before the last general election.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Labour Minister Pia Glover-Rolle is of the view that not just because someone continues to say something, “does it bring the accuracy.”

The minister’s response comes after Trade Union Congress President Obie Ferguson repeatedly claimed the government has not followed through on the memorandum of understanding signed before the last general election.

Glover-Rolle says most of that MOU has been addressed.

The only remaining issue? Labour legislative reform, which she says is almost complete.

On Monday, the Union of Tertiary Educators of The Bahamas and the Bahamas Union of Auxiliary Professionals in Education staged demonstrations.

Meanwhile, Bahamas Public Services Union held two protests, one focused on dissatisfaction with working conditions.

Still Glover-Rolle insists relations with trade unions remain positive.
