Caricom Devt. Fund Gives $300k To CDEMA To Strengthen Regional Response
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – CDEMA is receiving $300,000 from the CARICOM Development Fund to strengthen its regional disaster response. The funding will help Caribbean countries access emergency resources faster, covering aid, logistics, and communications, while boosting overall preparedness and resilience.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) is getting a boost to respond faster when disasters strike.
On Tuesday in Bridgetown, Barbados, CDEMA signed an agreement with the CARICOM Development Fund, which will provide $300,000 to support the agency’s regional response mechanism.
This funding will allow countries across the Caribbean, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, to access emergency resources more quickly.
The money will go directly to disaster response operations, covering humanitarian aid, logistics, communications, and rapid needs assessments.
For CDEMA, the partnership is about more than funding; it aims to make the Caribbean stronger, better prepared, and more resilient against future storms.
