Haitian Men Charged for $7.8 Million Cat Island Cocaine Bust
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police have charged two Haitian men following an October 4 drug bust that uncovered 920 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $7.8 million.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police have charged two Haitian men following an October 4 drug bust that uncovered 920 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $7.8 million.
Forty-two-year-old Joel Alfred and thirty-seven-year-old Fredson Fredric, both of Port de Paix, faced charges of drug possession with intent to supply and conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply when they stood before Magistrate Raquel Whyms.
They pleaded not guilty and were denied bail.
Their trial is set for February 5, 2026.
The charges stem from a seizure in McQueen’s, Cat Island involving both the DEA and DEU.
The officers were on patrol in a DEA helicopter when they saw two men in bushes among multiple crocus sacks filled with cocaine.
