GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – The Bahamas senior women’s national basketball team is officially headed to Centrobasket 2026 after closing out the FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship with a 2-2 record. Their performance placed them among the top three teams in the region, securing qualification for next year’s tournament.

Despite a 105-81 loss to the U.S. Virgin Islands in the final game, the backcourt duo of Lashann Higgs and Valerie Nesbitt put on another dominant showing. Higgs finished with a game-high 37 points, while Nesbitt added 32.

The two finished first and second in scoring for the entire tournament. Higgs averaged 29.5 points per game and led all players in steals, while Nesbitt averaged 25 points and led the tournament in assists.

There is no confirmed date yet for the 2026 Centrobasket, but The Bahamas is expected to field a strong team with several players currently competing at the NCAA Division I level.

Buddy Hield Climbs to No. 15 on NBA All-Time Three-Point List

Buddy Hield has officially strengthened his legacy as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. The Bahamian sharpshooter moved into 15th place on the league’s all-time three-point list, passing Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce.

Hield now sits at 2,145 career three-pointers.

The milestone came during the Golden State Warriors’ 124-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Hield scored 11 points and hit three of his six attempts from beyond the arc.

After limited minutes in recent weeks, the game marked Hield’s first time playing more than 20 minutes since opening week and only his second double-digit scoring performance in November.

Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr celebrated the breakthrough, saying he was happy to see Hield finally find his rhythm and that it was only “a matter of time for Buddy.”

Over in Dallas, Klay Thompson added 19 points and drained five three-pointers in the Mavericks’ 133-131 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
