$60k Bail Set for American Tourist Who Killed Teacher, Nephew in Abaco
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An American tourist is facing charges after a wrong lane crash killed two people in Abaco.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An American tourist is facing charges after a wrong lane crash killed two people in Abaco.
Sixty-three-year-old John Porth, of South Carolina, is charged with vehicular manslaughter in the November 21 deaths of 53-year-old Monique Williams and her 13-year-old nephew Terrance Williams.
Prosecutors allege Porth was driving in the wrong lane at Treasaure Cay, Abaco when he crashed head-on into Williams’ car.
Porth was not required to enter pleas to the charges when he stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.
Bail was set at $60,000 cash and he will have to wear an ankle monitor.
Porth returns to court on March 16 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers that will fast-track his case to the Supreme Court.
