NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Candidates from the three major political parties were nominated for the Pinewood constituency.

While all candidates were successful, the process was not without opposition.

That’s Leader of the Coalition of Independents, Lincoln Bain, who was first out the gate for nomination ahead of the May 12th general election.

Surrounded by supporters, Bain made his case to Pinewood voters, by saying he is ready to represent the constituency.

After his nomination was confirmed and the four-hundred-Bahamian-dollar fee paid, Bain was officially in the race.

However, he did not leave without objecting to the nomination of FNM candidate, Denarii Rolle, with returning officer William Pratt.

Outside, Bain doubled down, arguing that the rules must be followed.

However, FNM candidate Denarii Rolle appeared unfazed by Bain’s concerns when he arrived with his supporters -the first-time candidate said that he is ready for the race ahead.

Under Article 13 of the Union’s Industrial Agreement, employees that are vying for national elections are to be given time off without pay to prepare for same.

Such persons are to resume their duties within one month after the election if unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, incumbent PLP MP Myles LaRoda confidently made his way into the nomination process, saying he is hoping for a second term.
