NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three Haitian nationals are behind bars after admitting to using forged National Insurance Board smart cards.

35-year-old, Peterson Auguste, 30-year-old Laitile Delhomme and 29-year-old Joadly Alteus all pleaded guilty in court to possession and use of forged documents.

Auguste, who had a pending work permit renewal, was sentenced to one year in prison. Delhomme and Alteus, both without legal status in the country, each received 18-month sentences.

The court also recommended deportation for Delhomme and Alteus, while suggesting a review of Auguste’s work permit after his sentence.

The court heard that the three were arrested at the airport in Bimini after traveling from new providence on Western Air on April 25th.
