NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Healthcare in the Family Islands has long been an issue, with many having to be flown to New Providence for care.

Minister of Health Dr. Michael Darville was asked about the issue after traffic accident in Exuma on Monday night.

Seven people, including an Exuma couple and five American visitors, had to be flown to New Providence late that night after they were seriously injured.

Dr. Darville said Family Island healthcare remains a focus and several contracts will be signed soon.
