“I was informed or called by one of the cousins that she was at the party with that she was in the accident Sunday, early Sunday morning. And so, and I immediately began calling, trying to get some information from the hospital.”

That was the moment Dianna Wright says her world changed forever.

Wright is the mother of the late Evalena Johnson, better known to loved ones as Lily Johnson, who was the last of the 4 young women killed in the June 28th Shirley Street crash to be publicly identified.

Her identity became known after a missing person flyer began circulating on social media.

Speaking to Our News from Canada, Wright said after receiving a call from one of her daughters cousins, she immediately sent Johnson’s father and a family friend to the hospital in search of answers.

Wright says her daughter had been living in the United States for the past four months, where she had recently secured a job and was applying to universities.

She returned to the Bahamas to attend the funeral of a loved one before later going out with her cousins.

She added that she didn’t know the other young women involved in the crash and still doesn’t know why her daughter was in the vehicle.

Wright has been forced to piece together her daughter’s final moments through social media.

“A lot of this information, a lot of little scenarios are weird to me and I have absolutely zero information about a lot of stuff. A lot of the information that I have, I’m finding out on Facebook.”

Wright also expressed her disappointment over videos of the driver that have been circulating online, while acknowledging that those involved are young.

She says she has yet to see what she believes is genuine remorse, adding that her family is now focused on seeking justice for Lily.

“You know, in my head I’m thinking you’re clearly no longer in shock. You know, by now you’re aware that you’ve taken a few people lives.”

Fighting back tears, Wright described what her daughter was like.
