Russia and Ukraine Trade Drone Attacks With 5 Killed in Each Country

EUROPE – Russia and Ukraine traded accusations Tuesday over attacks that officials say killed civilians on both sides, with Moscow authorities reporting five deaths in the Russian region while Ukrainian officials said a similar number, including two children, were killed across several locations in the country.

Russia has continued its attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine, despite Moscow’s claims that its forces are targeting only military sites.

More than 16,000 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the war began. The United Nations children’s agency on Tuesday urged both countries to uphold international humanitarian law requiring the protection of children, citing recent deaths in Russia and Ukraine.
