Sandals Royal Bahamian Staff Say Emotional Goodbye to Co-worker Killed in Andros Plane Crash

“You could never complain around Tonique. The most you would ever hear her say was, ‘Boss, you working me hard and you ain’t feeding me. You know I love to eat,’ and then she would laugh and get back to work. Beyond her incredible work ethic, Tonique brought joy wherever she went.”

“Once the work was done, she was always the first to say, ‘Great job,’ and offer a high five. She had a way of making everyone feel appreciated, and she truly made our department feel like family.”

Tonique was one of 10 people who died in that Flamingo Air plane crash on Independence Day.

The flight had left Nassau and was in the process of landing in San Andros ahead of the North Andros Regatta. She and four other members of the Pond Band were set to perform at the regatta.

While she loved to entertain, her Sandals coworkers say she also loved the job, where she worked for 10 years.

Tonique worked at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort shop before her passing.

At today’s memorial, Hotel Manager Delino Moss spoke about the importance of putting together the memorial and offering support during this difficult time.

“It’s all about family, it’s about being there for her family here and her personal family on the outside of here. It’s about taking care of them in this time of bereavement, that we show the love and that we care for our family. No matter what, we want to be there.”
