NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – At 98 years old, Beverley Wallace-Whitfield knows what she likes and she’ll tell you when she doesn’t.

But when it comes to her ALIV Fibr service, she says there’s not much to complain about.

And as ALIV celebrates its tenth anniversary, Our Delvardo Emmanuel spoke with Wallace-Whitfield, who said she didn’t even know she was the first customer.

“ Being 98 going on 99 I kind of put my wishes and desires and pleasures first. So I don’t have a complaint honestly. I would be wicked if I was to complain about the service from Aliv Fibr so- Yes, I’m a happy camper”

And that happy camper also happens to hold a special place in Aliv’s history.

Beverley Wallace-Whitfield was the very first customer to have the company’s Fibr service installed.

But at the time, she didn’t even know she was first.

She says a friend of hers had encouraged her to become a customer and she simply decided to give it a try.

“ I have a sorority sister with ALIV, and I had been talking to her as well. And she was a great encouragement of being an ALIV customer. But the point is, when this was all taking place, I didn’t realize I was the first.”

Now, as ALIV marks ten years in The Bahamas, Wallace-Whitfield is getting her flowers as the customer who helped mark the start of the company’s Fibr journey.

And while she gives the service high marks, she does have one little bone to pick.

Those two remotes, can sometimes give her a run for her money.

“ Maybe I didn’t get the instructions correctly and all that sort of stuff. But I have two operators, two what you call them? Remotes. Remotes. Yeah. And navigating both, sometimes is a little tricky.”

But a tricky remote aside, Wallace-Whitfield says the people behind the service have left an impression too.

And when it comes to the technicians themselves, she had nothing but praise.

“ They’ve always been, quite professional. They come and they do their job. And, what I also like is they give you an appointment and they keep it. And, I find in general terms as a Bahamian that we’re not good at, um, making and keeping appointments.”
