NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The country recorded the first two murders of the year, in Montell heights.

Police tell us that around 3am, a man who was acquitted of home invasion charges was shot to death in his home.

According to reports, the victim and his girlfriend were sleeping in a home when two gunmen burst inside and opened fire.

Both victims died at the scene. Our news understands the male victim is Kevin Andrews.

Andrews was acquitted of the October 28th, 2014 murder of Robert Cartwright during an attempted armed robbery in Blair Estates after a judge directed the acquittal citing insufficient evidence.

Police say they’ve arrested two suspects for the double murder. Both suspects are on bail for armed robbery and are being electronically monitored.

They say Andrews had a prior altercation with one of the suspects.
