NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Imagine helping to save a life by giving just one pint of your blood. That’s the message of one longtime donor who says he’s been donating the gift of life for more than 50 years. He’s encouraging others to do the same.

Basil Christie is Nassau’s most frequent blood donor.

I sat down for a one on one with Christie who told me that he’s been giving blood since 1967.

He says donating blood benefits both the recipient and the donor.

Christie is also the founder of Friends of the Blood Bank, a foundation created with the purpose of organizing blood drives throughout the island.

And, to those who are afraid to have their blood drawn, he says there’s nothing to worry about.
