NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Privy Council has refused a killer’s final bid to overturn his conviction for the murder of his on-again, off-again girlfriend.

This means that Gibson Raphael will have to serve his 41-year sentence for the July 27, 2012 murder of Kidlie St Brave, whose head was almost decapitated with a tile cutter in his rented room on Charles Vincent Street.

St Brave was killed shortly after reconciling with Raphael.

During his testimony at his trial, Raphael claimed that St Brave attacked him with tile cutter after she a text message from his son’s mother.

He said that he took the tile cutter from St Brave and could not recall what happened next because he went “into a trance.”

The Court of Appeal upheld Raphael’s conviction in 2016 in a split decision of two to one.

However, the Privy Council refused the appeal, saying that there was no risk that a serious miscarriage of justice occurred in the case.
