SWITZERLAND – The Ministry of Health and Wellness representing The Bahamas this week at the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva Switzerland.

Universal health coverage means that all people have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship.

It’s something the country is working toward.

However, Public Hospitals Authority Managing Director, Dr. Aubynette Rolle says because The Bahamas is an archipelago, there are challenges with universal healthcare delivery due to access limitations and fragmentation.

The managing director adding The Ministry of Health and Wellness has commenced a national health system strengthening initiative to integrate the delivery of care in both the public and private sectors.

Rolle noting The bBahamas is in its fourth stage of evaluating the essential public health functions which will guide a national health system strengthening initiative to integrate the delivery of care in both the public and private sectors
