NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 51st edition of The Bahamas National Swimming Championships are scheduled to begin next week. The age groups for boys and girls will be 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18 and over. There will be over 600 local swimmers and nine clubs participating. Bahamas Aquatics Secretary General Georgette Albury says this event is focused on showcasing national talent.

And, as for the expectations for the meet and if records will be broken? She says they expect to see some record-breaking performances, especially from a few of the collegiate-level competitors.

We also asked Albury whether the pool would be ready for competition. She says it will be at the standard needed as it is a World Aquatics Championship qualifying event.

The swim nationals are set for next Thursday, June 15th and will run until Sunday, June 18th.
