MOROCCO – Bahamians continuing to show and prove that they are some of the most talented and gifted people in the world. A local pediatric surgeon traveling to Morocco recently with an international foundation that aims to change the lives of the less fortunate.

Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. Ashaini Knowles has been in the medical field since 2010 and began traveling on international missions.

Recently, he traveled to Morocco with the Paul Chester Children’s Hope Foundation where the team spent 10 days changing the lives of some 90 children.

The team also taking their efforts into the desert, helping to diagnose several people with cancer.

And beyond surgeries, they were able to hold lectures for local nurses and medical students. An initiative Dr. Knowles believes will have a lasting impact.

While this was his first mission with this particular foundation, Dr. Knowles says it will not be his last, adding that he enjoyed the holistic aspects of the trip.

Of the 60-member team, 30 were clinical and 30 non-clinical.

And as a pediatric surgeon, he says being able to help children return to life of normalcy, is always most gratifying.
