NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bus drivers are speaking out again and calling for a fare increase. They say it’s been a while since they heard from the minister and they’re asking her to meet with them.

Months after meeting with Transport Minister JoBeth Coleby-Davis, The Bahamas Unified Bus Drivers Union says they’re still waiting to hear from her on a fare increase for the industry.

Union Public Relations Officer Samuel Taylor says the last time they heard from her was back in May.

The union recently released a memo saying bus fares would increase. The Ministry of Transport released a statement saying no increase has been approved by cabinet.

However, according to Taylor, some customers haven’t been mandated to pay the suggested increase.

But what’s making matter’s worse is the increase cost of living.

Taylor says the cost of diesel has gone up again along with other necessities.
