Junkanoo Back On Bay Despite Weather Delay

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 2023 Boxing Day Parade drew a huge crowd to the Downtown area as Junkanoo lovers came to see their favorite groups, and Junkanooers came to show up and show out.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 2023 Boxing Day Parade drew a huge crowd to the Downtown area as Junkanoo lovers came to see their favorite groups, and Junkanooers came to show up and show out.

The threat of inclement weather did not put a damper on the 2023 Boxing Day Parade. On Tuesday morning officials made the call the have the parade happen after being delayed by a day.

But the delay did not stop the rhythmic music, energetic dancing and colorful costumes, as a and B groups hit Bay Street.

First for the A category group were the Genesis Warhawks with one question, who’s hungry?

Then came the defending Boxing and New Year’s Day champions One Family Warriors. Putting a twist on their theme by incorporating all of the major Junkanoo groups.

The Music Makers also made an appearance expressing their love.

They were followed by the Valley Boys bringing the magic of fairy tales to Bay .

Saxons came out with a response going back to ancient times.

Roots then claimed the spotlight with lights, camera action!

The fun was also contagious for tourists who says Junkanoo was a full circle moment for them.
