Beyond the green environmental benefits, there are also green benefits for the economy!

Here, we often get our natural Christmas trees from one of the many local importers who bring in Christmas trees from abroad, often from Canada and the U.S., as a seasonal business or fundraiser.

But when the holidays are over we’re all left with the question- what do I do with this tree?

For many the answer is that the tree ends up in a landfill, or burned but they can do more good when composted, and burning can pose the risk of starting a wildfire.

Here in New Providence, one option is initiatives like the Christmas tree collection run by Nicholas Fox – also known as Da Compost King, who is in his third year of collecting Christmas trees for composting and Christmas usage.
