NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In a world where we’re constantly reminded of the climate crisis, many find themselves wondering if there’s really anything they can do to make a difference.

The truth is, changing some small habits can have a big impact!

The first tip – opt for sustainable living. Buying less benefits the environment and your wallet. In The Bahamas, where transportation is a significant carbon polluter due to imported goods, consider repairing items or choosing second-hand options to minimize your ecological footprint.

Local farmers will thank you for taking on the next tip. Choose to shop locally for food. By opting for locally grown and produced items, you not only reduce the carbon footprint associated with shipping but also contribute to putting money back into the local economy.

Finally, ditch single use plastic water bottles and carry a reusable water bottle instead. Over 25 million tons of plastic waste were created by the bottled water industry in 2021, and 80 percent of plastic water bottles end up in landfills.

Instead save money on the dozens of bottles of water you buy throughout the year, and stay hydrated by keeping your reusable bottle with you throughout the day.
