Team Bahamas Extends Lead Following Day 2

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – At the end of day two, The Bahamas racked up 525 points, 184 points ahead of the Cayman Islands who remained in second with 341 points, while Trinidad and Tobago sat in third with 317 points.

Some of those swimmers from team Bahamas couldn’t be happier with their performances as well, all gold medal winners from night two.

The final day kicks off at 9am for the morning session on Tuesday followed by the evening session at 6pm which will also include the closing ceremonies.

Team Bahamas Holding On To Second Place

The team headed into this evening’s final session with 28 medals – 8 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.

Field events have been the catalyst behind that total and won three medals in this morning’s session.

Dior-Rae Scott won gold and set a new CARIFTA record in the under 17 girls javelin with a throw of 52.53 meters while former record holder Kamera Strachan won silver with her throw of 47.61 meters.

Lanaisha Lubin took bronze in the U20 girls long jump at 5.90m.

Sunday night’s four gold medals all came in the field as well.

In the under 17 boys, Joshua Williams won his second gold of the meet, not only does he jump really far, but he also jumps really high. He took high jump gold at 2.00m followed by claudius burrows with silver at 1.95m.

Kenny Moxey Jr won gold in the boys octathlon with 5455 points, Kaden Cartwright gold medal throw in the under 17 boys javelin was 67.34m and J’kaiyah Rolle also won gold in the under 17 girls long jump at 5.77m
