Sustainability First: MIYA Bahamas Teaches Young People About Water Conservation
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This World Water Day MIYA Bahamas, an efficiency-oriented water operator and part of a global company with a presence in ten countries, visited the children of St. Anne’s Primary School to raise awareness of the importance of World Water Day.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This World Water Day MIYA Bahamas, an efficiency-oriented water operator and part of a global company with a presence in ten countries, visited the children of St. Anne’s Primary School to raise awareness of the importance of World Water Day.
In 2012, MIYA’s assessment of water systems across New Providence uncovered a loss of up to 6.87 million gallons of non-revenue water daily.
That year, the water and sewerage corporation signed a partnership with MIYA Bahamas who says there has since been a reduction in the amount of non-revenue water loss.
MIYA Bahamas Leak Manager Rohan Thomas says the school visits are an effort to reach the new generation. During the presentation, St. Anne’s students took part in fun activities about conserving water through stopping leaks, and learned the importance of access to clean water.
