ISRAEL – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a war cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening, following Iran’s launch of long-range weapons towards Israel earlier in the day.

The escalating tensions between the two middle eastern adversaries, coupled with the potential involvement of the united states, have heightened concerns in the region.

Global powers and Arab nations have urged restraint to prevent further escalation.

Reuters reports the attack by Iran came in response to a suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria on april 1, which resulted in the deaths of top revolutionary guards commanders.
