Nine Member Jury Selected for North Abaco MP’s Trial

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Nine jurors have been selected to hear the case of North Abaco MP Kirk Cornish.

Cornish faces charges of rape, assault and threats of death in relation to a complaint made by a 33-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Prosecutors say the crimes took place between January 20 and April 4 of 2023.

Cornish has denied the allegations at his trial before Justice Renae McKay.

The judge warned the jury of six men and three women to ignore anything that they’d seen, heard or read about the case.

She said, “Your view of the evidence alone will determine your verdict.”

The prosecution will open their case on Tuesday. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
