World’s Largest Swimming Lesson At Atlantis

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It may be challenging for many to learn to swim, but the World Waterpark Association has been on a mission for over a decade to help communities across the world get the lessons they need.

And with the assistance of two local resorts, the association is bringing awareness through its World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. Our Denielle Miller tells us Atlantis is one of them.

More than 100 kids jumped into the pool at the Atlantis Resort Water Park for a group swim lesson.

The international event coordinated by the World Waterpark Association is in its fifteenth year.

This year was Atlantis’ seventh year taking part in the event.

Kids from the Ranfurly Home and Elizabeth Estates Center attended the lesson.

Ranfurly Home coordinator Prodesta Moore says it’s an experience the kids look forward to.

Even though the event was kid-focused, many adults like myself were encouraged to learn to swim.

The World Health Organization reports an average of 236,000 people die by drowning every year.

It’s why the World Waterpark Association continues its international event to kick off the summer.

Director of Water Park Operations Jamal Kemp says swimming programs are vital no matter the country.

I promise by the end of this summer, I’ll be swimming too.
