BPL Can Save $23m With Solar, Says Chairman

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas Power and Light Chief Executive Officer Shevonn Cambridge said the move to install a 60-megawatt solar field on New Providence by 2023 will save BPL $23 million annually in fuel costs.

Works Minister Alfred Sears told parliament Tuesday, about the power company’s dire financial straits which he says has prompted a November price hike.

Sears defended the move saying the added cost for consumers will help keep the power company from falling off a financial cliff.
