NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Men’s National Team isn’t just turning to a new generation of players — it’s also investing in a new generation of coaches.

Head Coach Mikhail McLean’s staff features a young core of Bahamian coaches, including Willis Mackey Jr., Nashad Mackey and Mychel Thompson.

The group represents some of the country’s brightest young basketball minds, bringing experience from the collegiate and professional levels to the national team program.

As Team Bahamas continues preparing for this window of the FIBA World Cup Pre-Qualifiers, the coaching staff will play a critical role in helping a roster filled with NBA players, professionals and emerging talent come together.

The Bahamas opens its pre-qualifying campaign against Jamaica on July 3 before taking on Puerto Rico on July 6.

Track and Field

Shaunae Miller-Uibo continues to build momentum in her comeback season.

The two-time Olympic champion claimed victory in the women’s 200 metres at the 76th Boris Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb, Croatia, crossing the finish line in a season-best 22.19 seconds.

The win marks another encouraging performance for the Bahamian star, who has gradually returned to elite competition after taking time away from the sport to start her family.

Miller-Uibo finished ahead of Thelma Davies of Liberia and Jaël Bestué of Spain to secure the title, continuing a string of strong performances that has included victories at the Florida Relays and the Alachua County Invitational.
