District Superintendent: This Is A Day Off From School, Not A Day Off From Work

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The announcement of the closure of schools on Grand Bahama and Bimini was issued early Thursday morning as inclement weather impacted parts of the country.

Acting Deputy Director of Education, Michelle Bowleg says the ministry’s top priority is always safety.

And as it relates to the re-opening of schools on Friday.

District Superintendent of Education for Grand Bahama, Bimini and the Cays Ivan Butler noting that although the pandemic has ended, there are schools that still use the ministry’s virtual LMS platform.

He is encouraging parents, teachers, and students to utilize it during the school closures.

He also thanked their union partners for their collaboration.

Other islands impacted by the closures include Eleuthera, Cat Island, Long Island and Exuma.
