NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police constable arrested following a drive-by shooting is behind bars and facing multiple charges.

Twenty-three-year-old Shando King appeared before Senior Magistrate Shaka Serville charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.

Prosecutors allege that on February 18 while concerned with others, King shot Tavares Paul in the shoulder during a drive-by at Exuma Street in an attempt to kill him.

King and others are accused of attempting to murder Inspector Marcian Frazier, Constable Lenn King and Able Seaman Decordre Glinton by opening fire on them during a police chase. He’s also accused of having a firearm with the intention of endangering the lives of Paul and the officers.

King was allegedly found in possession of a .40 Glock pistol, a 9mm pistol, 20 rounds of .40 ammunition and 24 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

King, who has since been fired from the police force, wasn’t required to enter pleas to the charges.

Bail was denied and he returns to court on September 25 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
