NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Junkanoo Corporation of New Providence and Aliv is making it cheaper for spectators to attend this year’s New Year’s Day parade with a nearly 30% discount.

The decision came due to a traditional decline in ticket sales.

In a statement to its Facebook page, the JCNP announced a 25% discount on Junkanoo tickets sold through the Aliv events app for the New Year’s Day Parade.

As of Tuesday morning, Aliv Vice President of Marketing and Consumer Solutions Amber Carey told us ticket sales increased once the announcement was made.

Tickets generally range from around $27 to $60. Discounted tickets can only be purchased through the Aliv events app.

Tickets bought from either the Aliv Cable Beach store or Harbour Bay store will be sold at full price.

The New Year’s Junkanoo Parade begins at 2 am New Year’s Day.

For ticket holders here’s what you need to know:

“Gates open at 12am, if you purchased your ticket via the Aliv Events app or on our website, you know that you need to ensure that you have the app on your phone, that is how we will scan your ticket, band you and get you to your seat,” Carey said.

“If you do have a JCNP ticket that would be accepted or a government-issued ticket, that will be accepted at the gate. However, if you did buy your ticket digitally, you cannot have a printout email, you can’t have it via your email. You have to make sure that you have the app downloaded. We have wifi downtown, we have wifi downtown, we can scan your app and get you seated.”
