PM: We Don’t See A Slowing In The Economy

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis stated, “We have our own predictions. We don’t see a slowing down in the economy as yet. There are some headwinds for us but it’s not in the economy, it is the obligations that have been incurred over the years that is holding us back.”

While highlighting the remarkable post-pandemic recovery in the economy, the International Monetary Fund also noted that growth is slowing.

 It says inflation is not modestly negative, but the cost of living remains high.

Prime Minister Philip Davis however disagrees with the assessment.

The IMF also welcomed the remarkable recovery in tourism and economic activity following hurricane, Dorian in 2019 and the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Despite this, the prime minister said the plan is to ensure the Bahamian economy continues to excel.
