NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Days ahead of the state funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II, one local group says its time to remove The King as Head of State.

The Rastafarian community has long carried the message that it’s time for the country to become a republic.

Rastafarian Priest Rithmond McKinney reinforcing that narrative tonight saying it’s time Bahamians stand up for their rights.

Queen Elizabath II – the longest reigning monarch – died on September 8th, making her eldest son Charles king.

But, with his ascension to the throne, many Commonwealth nations – including The Bahamas – are questioning if they should move away from the crown.
