NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are on the hunt for the shooter, after a Royal Bahamas Defence Force officer was shot in his car as he arrived home early Wednesday morning in Fox Hill.

Gunshots rang out in the wee hours of the morning as the country’s latest homicide unfolded in the Fox Hill community.

The 30-year-old was shot in his car as he arrived at his Ambrister Street home shortly before 2:00am. The victim was taken to hospital where he died a few hours later. Family members identified him as 30-year-old Alvarez McCoy, a Defence Force marine seaman.

Tributes for McCoy pouring out over social media as residents expressed shock over the murder of another Defence Force marine.

Mccoy’s death followed two other murders just hours apart – one after 7am Tuesday and the other 9:30 Tuesday night.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe says he is concerned over any murder, especially one of a law enforcement officer.
