GRAND BAHAMA , BAHAMAS – Election Day in Grand Bahama got off to a smooth start for many residents in the East Grand Bahama and Marco City constituencies.

Our Jameelha Missick told us, residents showed up early ready to make their voices count.

At Maurice Moore Primary School in the East Grand Bahama constituency, voters began lining up as early as 7 a.m., some determined to cast their ballots before heading to work, and others simply eager to take part in what many are describing as a critical election.

Beyond the party colors and campaign paraphernalia, many residents arrived in plain clothes.

Unlike advance poll day, where long lines and lengthy wait times caused frustration for many and these voters that she spoke to said Tuesday’s process appeared far more organized and efficient.

Over in the Marco City constituency at the Jack Hayward Senior High School polling division, the flow of voters remained steady throughout the day.

For some young Bahamians, Election Day marked a major milestone, exercising their constitutional right to vote for the very first time.

Candidates and political leaders also made appearances throughout the day.

She spoke to Opposition Leader and Member of Parliament for Marco City, Michael Pintard, at Grand Bahama Academy, where he and his wife cast their ballot.

Pintard said he is confident voters are ready for a new direction and believes tonight could end in victory for his party.
