USA – More than a million people in the upper US Midwest are under flood warnings after heavy rain caused record-high river levels, prompting evacuations and rescues.

Iowa and South Dakota are the hardest hit, with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds declaring a disaster in 21 counties, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem reporting at least one death.

Homes and buildings are submerged, and hundreds of homes and a sewage plant are damaged in spencer, iowa. Flood warnings extend to Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, with some expected to end Sunday.

Heavy rains up to 18 inches have caused severe flooding, particularly in rock valley, iowa, and emergency rescues continue.
