NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Water issues in Eleuthera are generally under control now, according to Water and Sewerage Corporation’s General Manager.

Eleuthera has had longstanding issues with reliable and clean water supply, and until the long-term issues can be addressed, the solution is two 500,000 bladder tanks for the Bogue and Naval Base water plant facilities.

Water and Sewerage Corporation’s General Manager Robert Deal, tells us work is already underway.

Desalination on Eleuthera has also been an issue in the past.

As recently as last month, residents turned on the taps to meet saltwater pouring out, after a plant malfunctioned on the island.

Deal says they’re working closely with the contractor to increase production capacity.

New equipment is expected to arrive in New Providence on Friday and Deal says they will be delivered to Eleuthera as soon as possible.

The general manager says they are trying to look beyond the problems of today, to make sure the solutions are climate resistant, reliable, and functional for as long as possible.
