$10 Million Disaster Preparedness Donation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – $10 million dollars is being pumped into the country’s disaster preparedness efforts, following a major donation from the United States.

Temporary shelters, communication equipment, transportable armories, generators, and flood-water rescue boats, are among $5 million dollars worth of material that will allow emergency response teams to rapidly deploy supplies to the family islands for humanitarian and disaster response.

A field hospital to treat disaster victims, is also among materials being donated.

During a recognition ceremony for the donated supplies, Director of Logistics and Engineering from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Northern Command, Major General Connie Jenkins reaffirmed the U.S.’ commitment to helping The Bahamas bolster its disaster response and humanitarian assistance capabilities.
