NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A young man who went viral on social media last week is opening up about his mom’s murder nearly 10 years ago and how an international country recording artist helped him get his life back on track.

We hear from Trent Mcintosh Jr.,a young man whose life was shattered but not defined by the tragedy.

Our News sat down with Trent as he breaks his silence for the first time since that life-altering moment.

Back in 2015, Trent Mcintosh Jr.’s mother Joyelle Mcintosh was gunned down before his very eyes.

The murder of the Queen’s College Elementary School teacher grabbed national headlines as the nation grappled with the senseless killing.

Prosecutors say she was killed as she drove along parkgate road with her son in the passenger seat.

Trent testified in court that his mom she swerved to avoid a man lying in the street.

Seconds later, she was shot in the neck.

Her son ran for his life as bullets whizzed past him.

It’s a tragic moment that’s shattered Trent’s world.

Coping, he says, has been a process, resulting in him being in and out of therapy.

The grief lingered as he went through high school, where the trauma began to take its toll.

Trent says his grades started to decline in his final years at Queen’s College.

Trent claims with his grades dropping his guardian at the time refused to pay his school fees.

But then came an unexpected lifeline, from his primary school friend at the Lyford Cay International School where his mom once taught the son of country music legend Shania Twain.

He even made a post about it on social media when he recently reunited with Twain saying he’s forever greatful for the help.

With his education secured, Trent found his footing.

He’s since graduated from highschool and launched his career as an event promoter.

Now at 22, Trent is a businessman, a promoter, and a survivor.
