U.S.A. – Buddy Hield’s game three performance was so critical to a Golden State win that Steve Kerr put him in the starting lineup for game four – the move paid dividends.

The Warriors took a commanding 3-1 series lead with Monday night’s 109-106 win over the Houston Rockets at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Hield scored 15 points on 6-15 shooting, including 3-9 from three point range, but those are the numbers we expect, what stood out to Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr was Hield doing the intangibles.

He added four points, three assists, and two steals in his first ever playoff win as a starter.

Hield had several key plays down the stretch, including a go ahead three pointer with 3:30 left to play in the fourth quarter.

Basketball

The Sunland Stingers senior boys basketball program continues to develop players capable of taking their academic and athletic careers to the next level.

Jason Williams and Jermaine Woodside became the latest Stingers products to take that next step when they signed with the Spoon-River College Snappers on Monday at the Stingers Complex in Grand Bahama.

Spoon-River is a NJCAA Division II program based in Canton, Illinois.

Woodside is the 2024-2025 Grand Bahama High School basketball player of the year. He won a Hugh Campbell title and three GBSSAA titles.

Williams also won a GBSSAA title and won the best of the best title in 2024.

Stingers Assistant Coach Marco Cooper said the program continues to mine talent from the Family Islands.

Baseball

Senior league baseball is on it’s way back.

The New Providence Amateur Baseball League hosted a two day pre-season tournament over the weekend at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium.

The Sharks won the tournament title 14-0 over the reapers while blue power won the third place game over the Boyz.

Open to all players age 15 and older, the league plans to make its formal return this spring for the first time since the demolition of the original Andre Rodgers Stadium in 2006.
